LT Lewis J Patterson

LT Patterson

Lieutenant Lewis J. Patterson graduated from Vanderbilt University in May 2003 with a degree in history. He earned his commission through the NROTC Program.

Following college graduation, he attended Naval Nuclear Power School in Charleston, SC, graduating in December 2003. Following this he reported to the S8G/AFR Prototype Reactor at NPTU Ballston Spa, NY for Prototype Training. LT Patterson finished his initial training pipeline at the Submarine Officer Basic Course in Groton, CT in September 2004 and then reported to his first submarine.

LT Patterson reported to the USS Alexandria (SSN 757) in October 2004. While onboard he participated in three overseas deployments, including an extended seven month deployment to the Persian Gulf and a polar ice deployment in support of ICEX 07, in addition to numerous local operations. While onboard Alexandria he served as Electrical Officer, Reactor Control Assistant, Assistant Operations Officer, and Assistant Engineer.

LT Patterson reported to the NROTCU University of Idaho in July 2007 as an Assistant Professor of Naval Science and as the Nuclear Propulsion Officer.

LT Patterson’s personal and unit awards include the Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards), Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle Efficiency “E” Ribbon (2 awards), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, Navy Expeditionary Medal, and Arctic Service Ribbon.
